Facebook Touch Site Redesigned for Symbian

Facebook Touch(touch.facebook.com) is the mobile version optimised for touch screen devices and it has got a pretty good face lift echoing the new changes for the desktop site.

 The main feature you will notice is a new menu in the top left corner giving easy acess to new feed,messages,pages,groups and more.

The notifications panel also got a facelift now looking like one from an iPhone app.Also the news feed also has been improved like in desktop site showing recent stories you like rather than just showing recent news which was populated by game spams(friends triumphs playing Farmville and the like).

 Also The status update has been changed adding Facebook's new feature allowing you to select who reads your updates.Though the update button required a refresh sometimes.

Overall the new touch site can compete with any Facebook app for Symbian and yes there are missing features like video upload and checkins.But for an average user Facebook has took the right path and will accelerate its path to global dominance.(Hope Google's listening).

tweetgo a beautiful Twitter Web App for Symbian

I had earlier written about four Twitter Web Apps and here is another cool one to the collection.tweetgo.net designed for Nokia N900 devices but works great on Symbian browser and looks neat too.

The scrolling through the tweets was pretty fast and had no problems with loading so if you wan't a free twitter alternative try tweetgo.net.

URL for Touch Optimised Google Services

While Google has optimised their sites for acess from touch optimised mobile's but they work by default on Android and iPhone only.Though symbian,iPhone and Android browsers are based on the webkit core Google refuses to redirect symbian users to touch optimised sites.These sites can easily be rendered on the default symbian browser.

The default sites that is shown for symbian users is the older version for non-touchscreen devices and very diffcult and feature limited while the desktop sites while has all the features but is diffcult to use and data usage is high.If we try to use opera mobile or opera mini the problems stays and even show less optimised ones though the Google News site is a change which is now optimised for Opera Mini.
Fortunately if we use correct URLs we can acess the version available for iPhone and Android users.So i Have gathered a list of links to touch optimised Google services.

Note:For best experience i recommend Opera Mobile

Hahlo like itweet behaves like a native app but is more light on the color and is resources.The UI is wonderful but like itweet hahlo is designed for apples safari so eveything may not work as expected but i strongly reccomend this as an option if you are looking for a twitter web client.
